BrightSpot Definitions

(listed alphabetically)

"Double" Match:
A Match whom you have answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting AND who has also answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting you. You can select whether you are interested in meeting a match when you view that match's profile. To view a match's profile, click on the match's screen name on your "Show Matches" page. You may freely send messages to your Double Matches when you view their profiles.

Match:
Anyone registered with us who we find is mutually compatible with you based on the answers provided in the "About Me" and "About My Match" sections of our website. All of your matches are listed on your "Show Matches" pages.

Match Factor:
A measure of how compatible you are with a match based on our assessment of all of the answers provided by both you and your match to our "About Me" and "About My Match" questions. Match Factor scores can vary between 0 (mutually at the edge of compatibility on all criteria) and 100 (mutually ideal on all criteria). We expect that typical scores for your matches will be between 40 and 90. A Match Factor above 90 will probably be very rare. We suggest (frankly) that you attempt to get to know ALL of your matches and not place too much emphasis on Match Factor scores.

"No" Match:
A Match whom you have answered "No" to being interested in meeting.

Special Message:
A message sent to a Match who is not a Double Match. You are allowed to send one Special Message each week. A new Special Message privilege is granted to all users early Sunday morning of each week. We included this feature so that you can write matches who especially appeal to you but who have not answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting you. Please use this feature prudently. Keep in mind that the recipient might not have answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting you for very good reasons. If you send a Special Message to a match, you should have answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting them so that they can freely reply to your message. If they don't reply, please respect their choices. Special Message privileges are NOT cumulative, i.e., a user cannot save up to send several Special Messages in a single week by refraining from use of the privilege over several weeks. One Special Message per week is all a user can ever send.

"Untagged" Match:
A Match whom you have not yet answered either "Yes" or "No" to being interested in meeting. In general you should answer "Yes" or "No" to being interested in meeting as soon as you view a match's profile. An Untagged Match functions exactly like a "No" Match, with one exception: when you have accumulated 5 Untagged Matches, you will no longer receive new matches. We limit the number of Untagged Matches to assure that inactive members do not continue to receive new matches. Our active members can thus generally assume that any new matches are also active members.

"Yes" Match:
A Match whom you have answered "Yes" to being interested in meeting but who has not answered "Yes" to meeting you. It could be that this match has recently taken a break from using our site or otherwise has not yet seen your profile. It could also be (frankly) that this match answered "No" to being interested in meeting you.
