We would like to find a way to generate enough revenue from this site that it can mostly sustain itself. At the same time, we don't want to charge our users for our services or place banner ads on our active user pages. So...

If we don't get sponsors or sufficient voluntary contributions from our users to keep the site operating, what would you think if we placed ads on our public (i.e., non-account related) web pages?
1. I have no problem with ads on your public web pages – go for it!
2. Ads would detract from this site, but if you need them to keep this site operating smoothly, I support them.
3. Ads on public pages would detract from this site enough that I would not use them unless absolutely necessary.
4. DON'T put ads on this site – they would make this site seem second-rate and profit-oriented.
